Bayou Region Representative Introduction
Posted 8 months ago by Tommie Landry
Hello Bayou Region,
My name is Tommie Landry, and I wanted to introduce myself officially as your new representative for the Bayou Region. Many of you may already know me through our interactions at Nicholls; through work at Thibodaux Regional, Terrebonne General, or Lady of the Sea Hospitals; or through different events throughout the years. I am a fulltime Assistant Professor at Nicholls, where I am involved in the BSN & MSN programs, and I work PRN as a nurse practitioner at a Lady of the Sea Clinic.
When Kathy Baldridge, current LANP president, put a call out for a region rep., I eventually told her I might be interested. When she said no one else had really expressed any interest, I said I would do it to keep this region alive. However, as I have begun to orient to this role, I truly have become excited to not just keep this region alive, but to help this region to reach its full potential.
The Bayou Region encompasses 7 parishes: Lafourche, Terrebonne, St. Mary, Assumption, St. James, St. John, and St. Charles. I hope to find ways to increase engagement across all parishes. This will be challenging and it will not be perfect, but I believe it can be done over time with your support. I do believe that having a Co-Rep for this region would be of great benefit especially someone from another parish. I live in Thibodaux in Lafourche. If you have any interest in that or know someone who would be great in that role, please let me know. This organization is such a vital resource for the advancement of our profession and the overall health of the state, and it needs support from our members. I am hoping that you will find a way to become more active and engaged along with me!
Please contact me with any thoughts or ideas on how to engage our region and grow our membership. I hope to plan a dinner meeting sometime in October, so be on the look out for that announcement. More to come!
Sincerely,
Tommie
