Risen from the Dead
Posted over 2 years ago by Donna Wilson
Well, HELLO Bayou Region LANP!!!!!
It has been a hot min since our last email! I would like to re-introduce myself and Marcia to the group. As most of you know, I was the Bayou Region Representative about three years ago. Since then, I moved to Lafayette and became LANP's Treasurer. My term as Treasurer has now been fulfilled, and I have moved back to Houma; therefore, I will be helping the current rep, Marcia Blereau, revitalize the region.
Marcia Blereau has been a NP and a dedicated LANP member for the last almost six years. When she took over the region, she nor anyone else, could have ever predicted the events of the next three years...covid and Ida. I commend Marcia for being the sole rep in the region during that difficult time; never loosing hope that things would one day be great again. Words cannot express my gratitude to her for not giving up on us.....So, I would like to extend a huge thank you to Marcia!!! Thank you for taking on this task, thank you for not giving up, thank you for hanging in there and being dedicated to your professional organization and its members.
Now, that I am back, Marcia and I, have decided to team up and help "raise the Bayou region from the dead". In all fairness, these last three years have been extremely challenging..... Everyone has struggled to recover and regain some sort of normalcy..... Houma/Thibodaux as well as all of South Louisiana always seems to amaze me at the sense of community and unity that happens especially during a disaster. I must say, I have NEVER been more proud to be part of community as I currently am.
The purpose of this email is to let you know that we are here, and we want to revitalize our region!! Our first scheduled meeting is February 8th at Fremin's. Please register if you have not already done so! Please feel free bring a friend who may not currently be part of LANP in hopes that they will want to join. Did you know that most places of employment pay for your memebership?? Sometimes it falls under CEU money...if your organization has a large group of NP's, please contact us because we may be able to get a group rate!!
Did you know that we offer monthly CE opportunities with Pharmacology hours??? Yes, MONTHLY via zoom! We will start offering in person specific to our region again this year too!!
We would also love to start doing community events again such as a coat drive or whatever drive or event the region would like to participate in!
Please give us feedback! What do you as a region want to do?! What events or CE's would you like to see offered?!
This is your membership, and we care about meeting your needs!
As always, we are available for you! We volunteer for you! Your voice matters and collectively as a region, we matter! Thank each and every one of you for trusting Marcia and I with the task of representing this great region.
If you have not joined the LANP Bayou Region Facebook page, please do so! Please share with all of your NP friends too! Let's grow together! Let's succeed together!
Last but not least, please be on the look out for emails about this years upcoming state events! We will have legislator meet and greets (regional and state), a golf tournament, spring and fall conferences, bingo, and a possible fashion show to help grow and support our foundation and PAC! If you would like to be a part of any of these events, please reach out to me! We are always looking for help! We also have multiple committees that we need fresh/new blood to be a part of! Please consider! Please reach out to either of us if you have any questions about any of the above. We would love to have a conversation with you:)
Thank you all for receiving this email! This will be a GREAT YEAR!
